Why Designer Bee

Why Designer Bee works for programs

Built for first-time makers

Every project starts from a preset that already looks good. Your patrons, students, or kids can succeed in their first session — no failed builds, no frustration.

No accounts, no data collection

Everything runs in the browser. Nothing uploaded, nothing tracked, nothing to manage. Safe for kids and compliant with library privacy standards.

Works with the machines you already have

Exports clean SVG and STL files for any laser cutter, 3D printer, or vinyl cutter. Glowforge, xTool, Bambu, Prusa, Cricut — all supported.

The Designer Bee mascot

Built by a librarian, for librarians.

Designer Bee is built and maintained by Ebrahim Montazeri, MLIS, a maker-educator based in Fairfax, Virginia. He runs hands-on design thinking workshops at community makerspaces and has spent years helping first-time makers build their first thing. Every project on this site is shaped by what actually works in real workshops with real beginners.
